3 died, 15 taken ill consuming spurious liquor

Bhadrak: Three persons died and more than 15 persons were taken seriously ill after allegedly consuming spurious country liquor in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Monday late night.

According to sources, some people of Nimei Sahi village in the district consumed country liquor on Monday night after the polling got over.

The deceased have been identified as Sadhu Charan Nayak of Nimaisahi, Sarbeswar Das and Rama Chandra Padhiari.

Of the 15 persons who had fallen ill, some have been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, in a critical condition.

“It is yet to be clear whether the deceased and other critical patients consumed spurious liquor. Probe has been initiated at the administrative level to ascertain the exact cause of the liquor deaths.” Bhadrak Collector Gyana Das said after taking stock of the situation at Bhadrak hospital.
