Odisha’s Puri beach gets Blue Flag certification

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Puri beach has received the Blue Flag certification- the tag given to environment-friendly and clean beaches, equipped with amenities of international standards for tourists.

The stretch of the beach from Gandhi Ghat to Hotel Mayfair has been identified to be developed as per the Blue Flag standards.

The Blue Flag certification to Puri beach will further boost its tourism potential.

A beach needs to comply with at least 33 pre-requisites to achieve the Blue Flag tag.

While a beach must be plastic-free and equipped with a waste management system, clean water should be available for tourists, apart from international amenities which include the availability of toilets, changing rooms, first aid centers, security for senior citizens, CCTV surveillance and 24×7 security arrangements.
