Naveen directs to free hospitals from middlemen

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday directed for tough action against middlemen operating in hospitals of the state.

Talking to Chief District Medical Officers (CDMOs) through video conferencing ahead of the launching of Mo Sarkar, the Chief Minister directed the police superintendent to make hospitals free of middlemen.

“I also know that in some places middlemen interfere in the provision of health services”, he said.

He said that tough action would be taken against them.

The Mo Sarkar initiative would be launched from October 2.

“I will be personally talking at random to patients who have availed our services. And everybody in the system will also do the same. Based on this, immediate follow up action would be taken,” said the Chief Minister.

Patnaik said the people are the real owners of the health facilities of the state, and it is important that we take feedback on how they feel about our services.

Meanwhile, hours after CM’s instructions to make hospitals free of middlemen, the commissionerate police arrested four dalals from Capital Hospital campus.

“4 dalals have been arrested from Capital Hospital & forwarded to court for cheating. CP @SarangiSudhansu has directed strict action against dalals in govt. Hospitals in Bhubaneswar-Cuttack. Citizens are requested to report any such instance to the Police,” tweeted the Commissionerate Police.
