Accused arrested for impregnating physically challenged girl

Bhubaneswar: Police have arrested the prime accused involved in the alleged rape of a physically-challenged girl in Junagarh area of Odisha’s Kalahandi district.

The survivor, who is stated to be 7-months pregnant, had lodged an FIR in connection with the incident despite being warned by a Kangaroo court in her village.

The victim was earlier warned by a Kangaroo court not to approach the police and file any complaint in this connection.

“As per the preliminary investigation, the victim was sexually assaulted repeatedly,” said Kalahandi SP Battula Gangadhar.
