Bhubaneswar: More than 60% of seats in engineering colleges across Odisha have remained vacant, said Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Premananda Nayak informed on Saturday.
In a written reply to Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, the Minister said currently a total of 93 engineering colleges with 31,174 seats are functional in the state.
Out of the engineering seats in 93 colleges, 11,745 seats were filled in 2019-20 academic year while remaining 19,429 are still lying vacant, said the Minister.
He also informed that 3 colleges have applied for closure.
