Cancel all passenger carrying trains coming from Chhattisgarh: Odisha govt


Bhubaneswar: In view of the rising Covid-19 cases, the Odisha government on Thursday requested the Railway Board to cancel all passenger carrying trains coming from Chhattisgarh to Odisha from 10th April.

“All passenger carrying trains, be it local or mail/express, coming from Chhattisgarh (originating or through passing) to Odisha may be cancelled with effect from 10th April, 2021, till further advice,” said chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra in a letter to Railway Board Chairman Suneet Sharma.

Mahapatra said even though the situation is not alarming in Odisha, the cross border movement of people is now impacting the Covid situation adversely in almost all border districts of Odisha.

The people coming to Odisha by any public transport or by any private vehicles have to produce RT-PCR negative report obtained within 72 hours or final Covid vaccination certificate.

The government has susepnded all public transport from Odisha to Chhatisgarh and vice versa till 30th April.
