Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced 25 per cent hike in remuneration paid to workmen engaged on contractual basis and through outsourcing agencies in various departments of the state government.
About 33,000 workmen would be benefited following the move while the state government will bear Rs 100 crore additional expenditure annually.
Statutory payments like EPF and ESI of these persons engaged on contractual basis and through outsourcing agencies shall be deposited by the concerned agencies/firms. This has to be ensured by authorities of the concerned departments where they have been working.
The Chief Minister asked government officials to take stringent action against the outsourcing companies who fail to adhere to the directive.
In addition, the Chief Minister has directed them to be allowed a maximum of 12 days off per year.
Similarly, in the case of pregnant women, the Chief Minister has advised the concerned authorities to take a decision as soon as possible considering the issue of maternity leave.
