Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today announced that the summer vacation in colleges and universities will be curtailed and allowed for a period of 16 days between June 1 and June 16.
Usually, the college and universities remain close for a period of one and half months during the summer vacation.
The Odisha Government has decided to curtail the ensuing summer vacation has been cut short to compensate the academic days on account of Covid-19 related dislocation.
In a letter to all the Vice-Chancellor of all the state public universities and principals of government and non-government degree colleges, the Higher Education Department said, “The summer vacation will now be allowed for a brief period from June 1 to 16.”
If needed, extra classes will be held on holidays and working days by suitably extending the teaching hours, read the letter.Besides, the teacher and employees will be entitled for additional proportionate earned leave in lieu of such curtailment of the summer vacation.
Notably, the Odisha government on Saturday announced that the summer vacation in schools will be curtailed and allowed for a period of 11 days between June 6 and June 16.
