Rourkela: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday said the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela must come up with solutions and find ways to connect the entire population of Sundargarh with blockchain and other frontier technologies.
Addressing the 19th convocation of NIT Rourkela, the Minister said this will benefit society and ensure greater transparency, traceability, speed and efficiency in delivery of welfare schemes, he said.
“Industry 4.0 will bring wholesale changes in the nature of jobs with emphasis on automation and AI. A prestigious institution like NIT Rourkela must endeavour to make Sundargarh a laboratory for harnessing opportunities emerging out of the fourth industrial revolution,” he said.
He said NIT must aim to transform itself into a multidisciplinary institute/university and offer courses to broaden the understanding of how sustainable lifestyle can contribute in environment conservation and propagating habit of cleanliness among others.
He said scholars of NIT Rourkela must come out with new ideas and innovation to celebrate the vibrancy of all our Indian languages and promote learning in mother tongue.
“Technology is an enabler. We must use technology to promote and preserve our rich linguistic traditions,” the Minister said.
“Sundargarh and Odisha have many inherent strengths. The tribal culture of Sundargarh, tribal lifestyle and its synergy with nature & cleanliness, the grand temple architecture of Odisha offers a lot to learn to the outside world,” he added.
