Bhubaneswar: Doyens of veterinary science were felicitated on the Teachers’ Day at a function organised by the upcoming Institute of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, proposed faculty of veterinary sciences of SOA, here on Monday.
The veteran professors of the discipline were delighted at the SOA decision to set up the institute saying Odisha needed to have a second such facility as there was only one government-run institute in the state.
They were happy to see the infrastructure coming up for the institute and sat through the presentation by the faculty members from six research groups which included Artificial Intelligence, livestock production, animal foetal stem cell biology, digital technology in veterinary science and service, In-vitro fertilization and germplasm conservation, rDNA technology and new vaccine designing.
They were informed about the Urban Veterinary Hospital set up by SOA which had treated around 1500 animals and birds within a few weeks. Prof. Brahmadeb Patnaik, Dean of the institute, briefed the invitees.
SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, who graced the occasion stressed upon the need for quality education and development of work culture with focus on moral and ethical issues. SOA Chancellor Prof. D.P. Ray presided over the program.
