BMC gets Jatayu for city sanitation

Bhubaneswar: The city authority today has come up with an additional scientific tool of road cleaning activity. In two different places of Bhubaneswar, Jatayu Cleaning Machine to suck garbage from road side has started functioning.

While Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Sulochana Das in presence of Deputy Mayor Manjulata Kanhar and Commissioner Vijay Amrut Kulange inaugurated the machine on smart Janpath near Census Office.

 Mayor Das also inaugurated the machine at District centre in Chandrasekharpur.

During the inauguration at both the points, sanitation standing committee chairman Biranchi Narayan Mahasupakar and other corporators were also present along with senior officers including Additional Commissioners Laxmikanta Sethy, Binaya Kumar Dash and Suryawanshi Mayur Vikash.

With the objective of reaching zero garbage vulnerable points and making Bhubaneswar bin free city, the authority has added such facility in the city. This will address immediate lifting of garbage on roads.

Each Jatayu cleaning machine has 1.5 ton capacity container. The diameter of the suction pipe is 9 inch which makes it easy to suck big sized hard materials. While one agency called Jagruti will deploy the machine for cleaning of garbage from main roads of the city, the other one namely Pratyush will clean internal roads of the city.

The event was coordinated by Dy. Commissioner Sanitation Suvendu Kumar Sahu. Zonal Deputy Commissioners Priyabrata Padhi and Purandar Nanda managed the event at South East and North Zone respectively.
