Bhubaneswar: A fire incident today resulted in the complete destruction of at least five private buses that were undergoing repairs in a garage in Bhubaneswar. The unfortunate event occurred in the Tamando locality, falling within the Commissionerate Police limits.
According to sources, the buses, including those that were eventually consumed by the flames, had been temporarily halted in the garage. The fire erupted during welding activities in the afternoon. The precise cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and worked tirelessly for over an hour and a half to extinguish the flames. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in connection with the incident.
“The entire operation posed significant challenges given the nature of the location—it was a garage with numerous buses and other vehicles. We managed to contain the fire before it could spread to nearby vehicles,” stated Prakash Jena, Deputy Fire Officer at the Odisha Fire and Disaster Response Agency (OFDRA).
