Bhubaneswar: In a bid to bolster the cultural landscape and support the talented artists of Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has taken a significant stride by expanding the Mukhyamantri Kalakar Sahayata Yojana.
This flagship scheme, initiated by the Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department, aims to provide crucial assistance to artists across the state, ensuring their sustained growth and prosperity.
The Mukhyamantri Kalakar Sahayata Yojana has emerged as a beacon of hope for artists, offering them a monthly assistance of Rs 1,200 each. Initially designed to benefit 50,000 artists, the decision by the Chief Minister has propelled the number of beneficiaries to a commendable 80,000.
One of the key objectives of the Mukhyamantri Kalakar Sahayata Yojana is to preserve and promote the rich heritage of Odisha’s folk arts. These traditional art forms, deeply rooted in the cultural fabric of the region, serve as a testament to its rich heritage and legacy. By extending financial assistance to a broader spectrum of artists, the scheme ensures that these timeless traditions are safeguarded for generations to come.
Moreover, the Mukhyamantri Kalakar Sahayata Yojana serves as a catalyst for the socio-economic empowerment of artists. Many talented individuals, especially from rural areas, often face financial constraints that hinder their artistic pursuits. Through this scheme, the government not only provides them with a steady source of income but also empowers them to pursue their passion and contribute meaningfully to society.
By including an additional 30,000 beneficiaries, the scheme has opened up new avenues of opportunity for aspiring artists across Odisha.
