PM Modi to launch Odisha’s Subhadra Yojana and unveil ₹2,800 crore projects

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Odisha for a day, where he will inaugurate the state government’s new initiative, the ‘Subhadra’ yojana. During this visit, Modi will also lay the foundation stone and dedicate railway projects worth ₹2,800 crore.

Upon arriving in Bhubaneswar, Modi will head to Janata Maidan to launch the ‘Subhadra’ yojana, a women-focused program expected to benefit over one crore women. The scheme will provide eligible women, aged 21 to 60, with ₹50,000 over five years (2024-25 to 2028-29).

Each beneficiary will receive ₹10,000 annually in two equal installments, directly deposited into their Aadhaar-enabled and DBT-enabled bank accounts. On September 17, the Prime Minister will transfer funds into the accounts of more than 10 lakh women. Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister, Pravati Parida, announced that women who applied by September 15 will receive their first installment during the launch event.

Parida also noted that over 50 lakh women have applied for the scheme, with each receiving ₹5,000 on the Prime Minister’s birthday, as a special gesture.

Additionally, Modi will lay the foundation for railway projects worth over ₹2,800 crore and National Highway projects exceeding ₹1,000 crore. These initiatives aim to enhance Odisha’s railway infrastructure and boost regional connectivity.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister will release the first installment of assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) to nearly 10 lakh beneficiaries across about 14 states.

He will also oversee the Griha Pravesh celebrations for 26 lakh PMAY beneficiaries, both urban and rural, and distribute house keys to selected beneficiaries. Modi will introduce the Awaas+ 2024 App for surveying additional households for PMAY-G and unveil the Operational Guidelines for PMAY-U 2.0.
