Odisha: User charges waiver on veterinary care and vaccination


Bhubaneswar: The state government has announced waiver of user fees for the treatment and vaccination of livestock. As a result, people will not have to pay for the treatment and vaccination of cows, bulls, buffaloes, goats and sheep.

The proposal was approved by Gokulananda Mallick, Minister, Fisheries & Animal Resourses Development.

The Minister expressed that this step has been taken with an aim to ensure protection of livestock and provision of veterinary care.

The decision to waive user fee will be applicable in the state from March 1 this year. Public on several occasions requested to Minister to waive the charges. The government has taken this decision keeping in mind the wishes of the people.

Earlier, people used to pay user fees ranging from Rs 1 to Rs 100 for the treatment of cows, bulls, goats, sheep, buffaloes, etc. Now animal husbandry farmers will not have to pay any fee for treatment, vaccination and mobile services of cows, bulls, buffaloes, goats and sheep. A notification in this regard has been issued by Suresh Kumar Vashishth, Principal Secretary, F&ARD.
