Mobile phone thief nabbed at Puri Railway Station


Puri: In a commendable display of vigilance and swift action, the Crime Prevention and Detection Squad (CPDS) of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) successfully apprehended one individual involved in the theft of passenger belongings at Puri Railway Station on 28th June 2025.

As part of a special drive aimed at curbing unauthorized passenger movement and detecting theft of passenger belongings (TOPB), the CPDS team conducted intensive patrolling and surveillance across the station premises. During the operation, a suspicious male was intercepted near the main gate area.

Upon investigation, the individual was found in possession of two stolen mobile phones—a sky blue OPPO 10-K and a grey Samsung S24 Ultra—valued approximately at ₹1,50,000. The stolen items were identified as the property of a passenger present at the station.

During interrogation, the accused admitted to the theft and revealed his identity as Name: Rajesh Singh, Age: 21 years, DBC Pada, PS–Baidnathpur, District–Asansol, State–West Bengal

Following the admission of guilt and recovery of stolen property, the accused was brought to the RPF Post at Puri. After completing all necessary legal formalities, the individual was handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP), Puri, for further legal proceedings.

Puri Railway Station continues to remain under 24×7 surveillance through a network of CCTV cameras, vigilant RPF personnel and constant supervision by senior officers to ensure the safety and security of passengers.
