Sambalpur: IIM Sambalpur, one of the premier management institutions, made a milestone move towards achieving global education quality standards, starting with a series of strategic interactions with key stakeholders for AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accreditation.
This first-ever visit by AACSB officials to the campus underscores the institute’s strategic commitment to achieve high international standards in business and management education.
The institute has hosted Prof. Teguh Dartanto (Universitas Indonesia), IIM Sambalpur’s designated AACSB Mentor, on its New Delhi and Sambalpur campuses. Prof.
Teguh’s visit commenced with a series of rigorous meetings at the Delhi campus from 27th to 29th July while 30th and 31st July, at the Sambalpur campus. During which, he engaged with major institutional stakeholders such as institute lead, i.e., Director; students; alumni; and corporate recruiters. These interactions are expected to play a crucial role in understanding and achieving AACSB’s quality standards in business education.
During this visit at the Delhi and Sambalpur campus, Prof. Teguh made an in-depth academic assessment and intensified the roadmap for the Initial Self-Evaluation Report (iSER) for IIM Sambalpur.
In a historic step, IIM Sambalpur was also pleased to host Prathap Das, Regional Head – South Asia, AACSB, at its Delhi campus, on 28th of July. As part of the visit, Prathap Das formally handed over the AACSB Membership Certificate to Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director, IIM Sambalpur, in a ceremonial handover that marks the formal launching of IIM Sambalpur’s global accreditation process.
The ceremony reflects IIM Sambalpur’s determination to adhere to globally benchmarked levels in management education and research.
Delivering the valedictory address, Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal said, “IIM Sambalpur is committed towards excellence with global standard in its education program and is aggressively moving towards AACSB, which is a global top accreditation in management education. We welcome Prof. Teguh, from Indonesian University as our mentor in the AACSB journey, are really committed towards achieving all global accreditation standards.”
In the course of the agenda, detailed discussions with administrative representatives, faculty leaders, and accreditation teams were conducted on essential AACSB standards. Strategic goals, faculty qualifications, learner success measures, research influence, learning assurance, and the mission-driven approach of the institution to social relevance were deliberated upon.
While taking a tour of the campus, Prof. Teguh praised the ultramodern Sambalpur campus, Institute’s state-of-the-art learning methodology, smart classrooms, technology-enabled learning infrastructure, modern digital library, and unique initiatives to empower local artisans from Odisha such as “Master Weaver training program” praising IIM Sambalpur’s overall efforts to promote grassroots entrepreneurship.
Prof. Teguh, Universitas Indonesia, said, “I am impressed by IIM Sambalpur’s steady progress and strong commitment to continuous improvement. As a new-generation IIM, they bring unique strengths, most notably their innovative integration of Artificial Intelligence into teaching and learning. This reflects a bold and forward-looking academic vision. I have offered a few general suggestions, such as ensuring that all stakeholders remain engaged in the AACSB journey. With their clarity of purpose and collaborative spirit, I am confident IIM Sambalpur is on the right path and will soon achieve AACSB accreditation.”
