BDA begins demarcation survey for proposed left parallel road

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has initiated a detailed survey for the demarcation of the proposed left parallel road from OERC Square to Patharagadia.

The survey, which commenced on Tuesday, is scheduled to conclude on Wednesday.
The two-day exercise aims to enumerate the families residing in the Chunukoli slum area who are likely to be affected by the left parallel road project. On the directions of Dr. N. Thirumala Naik, Vice Chairman of BDA, four dedicated teams—consisting of officials from the Revenue Department, Works Department, BDA, and Commissionerate Police—have been deployed to carry out this crucial fieldwork.
Officials, including the Additional Commissioner (Estate-II) and Joint Commissioner (Enforcement) of BDA, as well as the Sub-Collector and Tehsildar of Bhubaneswar, are overseeing the demarcation and enumeration process to ensure accuracy and transparency.

The left parallel road project is a key initiative aimed at easing traffic congestion and enhancing connectivity in the rapidly expanding city. The proposed road will run from the Institute of Mathematics to Ekamra Kanan, passing through key points like Patharagadia, Utkal Hospital, and Rail Vihar. While construction is already in progress along some stretches, land acquisition and removal of encroachments remain critical components of the project.
This survey marks a crucial step towards balancing infrastructure development with social responsibility, ensuring that affected families are properly identified and rehabilitated as per existing urban development policies.
