Coal India chairman lauds MCL during three-day visit

Sambalpur: B. Sairam, Chairman, Coal India Limited, concluded his three-day maiden visit to Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) during which he inspected key mining operations and infrastructure across Talcher and Ib Valley Coalfields.

Sairam, during the visit held crucial discussions with key stakeholders of the company with emphasis on employee welfare and collaborative efforts.

He also reviewed the company’s performance on the operational fronts and appreciated MCL’s continued focus on efficient and environmentally responsible mining practices.

He also reiterated Coal India’s commitment to meeting the nation’s energy needs while advancing diversification into renewable energy, critical mineral exploration, and coal gasification.

At Talcher Coalfields, the chairman inspected Bhubaneswari and Ananta Open Cast projects along with the Automated Truck Loading System (ATLS) & SILO at Bhubaneswari Area. He commended Team MCL for adopting innovative practices and strengthening sustainable mining operations.

Further, at In valley coalfields, He visited Samaleswari, Lajkura and Integrated Lilari Belpahar Lakhanpur mines, coal stockyard at Lakhanpur Area assessing the production and despatch progress. Later on, the chairman inspected the largest non-coking coal washery of Coal India Ltd, Ib Valley Coal Washery, reviewing coal handling processes.

Sairam concluded his visit by reviewing mining operations at Basundhara & Mahalaxmi Area including Kulda, Siarmal and Garjanbahal OCP, along with railway siding at Sardega, taking stock of production and evacuation arrangements.

During his visit, he also felicitated outstanding performers, including female employees and contractors’ workers, in recognition of their contributions and excellence at workplace. 

Uday Anant Kaole, CMD, MCL, along with Keshav Rao, Director (HR); A K Behura, Director (Finance); S K Jha, Director (Technical- Operations/Project & Planning) and respective Area General Managers accompanied him throughout the visit.
