Generation Of Black Money Must Be Checked At Source: Justice Pashayat

Bhubaneswar: The vice-chairman of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on black money, Justice Arijit Pashayat on Monday informed that the SIT has already submitted six interim reports to the Supreme Court and the next report is likely to be submitted in December next.

Holding a review meeting on black money with officers of several government agencies dealing with economic affairs in Cuttack, he said that focus must be made to check the generation of black money at source.

“It will be wrong to say that generation of black money has completely stopped. However, a fear psychosis has developed among the black money holders. People are now aware of the severe consequences of generating and holding black money,” Pasayat said.

He said the investigation team has already made several recommendations to the Union government to check the black money inside the country.

He, however, stated that there is a need for a coordinated effort between all the agencies to stop generation of black money at source.

“The SIT is looking into activities of the educational institutions, mafia, dons, godmen and also real estate businessmen where traces of black money have been found. They are under the scrutiny to check the black money in Odisha,” said Justice Pashayat.

Notably, the SIT has recommended the Centre to take steps to curb black money from the economy.
