Odisha govt to distribute tutorial CDs for high school students


Cuttack: In a bid to tackle scarcity of teachers in the state, the Odisha government has decided to distribute tutorial CDs as part of virtual teacher initiative in the high schools.

The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) will distribute educational CDs for science and mathematics in the first phase. Subsequently, CDs for other subjects will come up after reviewing the programme, a BSE press release said.

The CDs will be preloaded with animations, detailed explanations and answers of all the questions. Besides it will also feature three-dimensional representation of science projects for students.

A student has to play the CD following which he/she can acquire adequate knowledge about the subject, the released said. The initiative will also help slow learning students, who can pause and analyse the project in minute detail. As a result, students can continue their studies even without the presence of a teacher in person.

Sources said School and Mass Education minister Devi Prasad Mishra will inaugurate the program on Thursday on the 61st BSE establishment Day.
