Three arrested in Kalahandi viral video case

Bhubaneswar: The police have arrested three accused for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping and gangrape incident in Odisha’s Kalahandi district.

An 18-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by three persons, who also filmed the incident and uploaded the video in social media.

The accused have been identified as Chittaranjan Guru and his aides Sushant and Mukund of Bhatraguda village.

Kalahandi SP Madkar Sandeep Sampat said police seized the smart phone by which the viral video had been recorded by the accused along with a bike used in the crime.

The seized items have been sent for forensic examination, he added.

The girl was abducted and raped by the accused on March 31 when she was returning from a local Shani Mandir near Bhatraguda village.

The accused took her to the nearby forest area. The victim was forced to consume alcohol by her abductors and raped by the main accused Guru. Sushant and Mukund recorded the rape on a smartphone and later made that viral.
