Congress workers welcome minister Dasburma with egg pelting in Puri  

BHUBANESWAR: Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Das Burma on Sunday faced the wrath of some Congress members as they allegedly hurled eggs at his car over the ration card mess in Puri.

Dasburma faced the opposition near Circuit House in Puri.

Sources said, members of Puri District Youth Congress hurled eggs on the car of the Minister following a press conference by the minister at Circuit house in Puri.

Dasburma addressed media over the alleged irregularities in preparing the list of beneficiaries under National Food Security Act (NFSA) and steps taken by the government to address the issues.

Before police could react, Congress workers hurled eggs at his car and displayed their protest over the government’s role in the alleged ration card irregularity.

The Puri district Congress has been alleging the role of the ruling the BJD behind ‘large scale irregularities’ in ration card distribution.

The party had alleged that BJD workers including Zilla Parishad representatives have figured in beneficiaries’ list under the NFSA.

The Congress party had demanded the resignation of Minister Sanjay Dasburma over the irregularity in the beneficiaries list and failure in implementation of NFSA in the state.
