Dhalsamant brothers aspire to be don; Reading books on Dawood Ibrahim, others

BHUBANESWAR: Legendary English writer Sir Francis Bacon rightly says, “Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested.”

Toeing the line, hardened criminals even in Odisha have started nurturing books on crime motivation.

A case in point is the recently seized books from dreaded criminal brothers- Sushant Dhalasamant and Sushil Dhalasamant- who have been arrested by Commissionerate Police on charges of murder, extortion and tender fixing.Dhalasamant brothers, dreaded criminals, arrested; political link crops up

The two brothers were reading Mafia Queens of Mumbai and Dongri to Dubai: Six Decades of Mumbai Mafia by S Hussain Zaidi.

Dongri to Dubai book traces the evolution of the Mumbai mafia from a group of thugs and smugglers to the present day mafia dons of organised crime.

It narrates the journey of Dawood Ibrahim from the by-lanes of Dongri where he first cut his teeth in crime, to Dubai, where he eventually established his empire.

They were also reading books of some foreign authors that include ‘The last Don’ a novel by Mario Puzo. The story alternates between the film industry and the Las Vegas Strip casinos, showing how the Mafia is linked to them both.

It seems that the Dhalsamant brothers have the ambition to be dons like Dawood Ibrahim and Abu Salem if one goes by their reading of such books.
