BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government on Thursday said it would set up ‘Open Schools’ in all blocks this year.
The open school will allow dropout students as well as elderly persons who have failed to complete schooling to clear matriculation.
The decision for expansion of these schools to all blocks was taken during the performance review meeting of School & Mass Education Department chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here.
To provide education to dropout students, the state government had started 115 ‘open schools’ in seven districts of the state last year.
While the government has set up 100 model school in 2015-16, 100 more model schools will be set up this fiscal. Model schools in the remaining 114 blocks will be set up by 2019.
The purpose of model schools will be to impart high-end education to students per the current English medium school standard.
