Sudarsan Creating 100 Sand Chariots To Achieve World Record

BHUBANESWAR: Internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik is attempting to achieve another world record in the sand by creating 100 sand chariots at the Puri beach in Odisha ahead of Ratha Yatra of Lord Jagannath.

Apart from the grand wooden chariots, pilgrims will get a glimpse of the sand art during the nine-day festival.

” I along with twenty-five students of my institute have started working on the 100 chariots from Friday. It will be completed on Monday afternoon, two days before the Rath Yatra. I have already completed more than 50 chariots. I am trying to set a place in the Limca Book of Records,” said Sudarsan.

“We got an official permission from the editor of Limca book of records. As per their instructions, we have started this,” said Sudarsan.

“This will be a big draw for tourists. We have erected a giant overhead tent to prevent rain from damaging the works,” said Sudarsan.

He recently won gold medals at an international championship in Moscow and Bulgaria.
