Ropeway Service To Resume At Nandankakan

BHUBANESWAR: There is good news for the visitors to Nandankakan Zoological Park here. The Odisha government has initiated steps to resume the much-awaited ropeway service at the zoological park after a gap of five years.

The zoological park authorities have signed an agreement with Damodar Ropeways and Infra Limited for the operation of the ropeway. As per the agreement, the private firm will complete the ropeway works in 18 months.

Sources said Kolkata-based Ropeway and Resorts Private Limited had signed a pact with the zoo in 1994 to run the ropeway service for 30 years. However, the visitors had faced difficulties due to two mishaps occurred in 2010 and 2011.

As a result, the zoo authorities had suspended the ropeway service on January 13, 2011.
