Biju Patnaik Sports Award 2015 Announced

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cricket Association secretary Asirbad Behera, women football coach Chitrasen Patra and international women athlete Purnima Hemram will get prestigious Biju Patnaik Sports Award for 2015.

Behera will get Biju Patnaik Sports Award for his contribution to the promotion of sports and games in 2015, said an official of Sports and Youth Affairs Department.

Chitrasen Patra will receive the award for excellence in coaching while Purnima Hemram will get the award for outstanding player of the year, the official said.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will give away the Biju Patnaik Sports Award 2015 on the occasion of National Sports Day at Jaydev Bhawan here on August 29.

The outstanding player of the year category carries trophy and a cash award of Rs 2 lakh. Purnima had bagged the gold medal in the heptathlon event in the Federation Cup by scoring 5713 points recently.

Women football coach Chitrasen Patra the excellent coach award, which carries trophy along with cash award of 1 lakhs.

The award for best contribution to the promotion of sports and games carries a trophy along with cash award of Rs 50,000.
