Odisha Govt Effects Rotation Of Sarpanch Seat Reservation

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday approved an amendment to Odisha Gram Panchayats Act, 1964 allowing rotation of reservation of office of the Sarpanch.

The rotation of reservation of offices of the Sarpanch is made after every one term of the general election.

The government will bring an ordinance to implement the amendment, said Chief Secretary AP Padhi.

He said since the process of the Panchayat election has already started, the government has no time to pass the amendment in state Assembly.

The state government has already introduced rotation for reservation of offices for ward-member, Panchayat Samiti member, and Zila Parishad.
