Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Congress chief Prasad Harichandan on Tuesday claimed that the statewide bandh on Mahanadi water dispute was peaceful and successful.
“Even though the state government attempted to foil the bandh, people extended their support to the cause making it successful. I thank people of Odisha for their support,” said Harichandan.
He said the support of the people across the state was spontaneous and the workers of the party come together to make it a success.
He also blamed the state government for detaining around 3,000 Congress activists during the Odisha bandh.
Leader of opposition and senior Congress leader Narasingh Mishra thanked the people for their support to the dawn-to-dusk shutdown across the state.
He said the Chhattisgarh and Odisha governments are responsible for the Mahanadi water disputes.
