Congress Observes Odisha Bandh On Mahanadi Water Issue


Bhubaneswar: Normal life came to a standstill in several parts of Odisha as Congress party began observing statewide bandh on Mahanadi water issue.

The party activists blocked roads at several places by burning tyres. They also resorted to rail roko at railway stations across the state. The business establishments and government offices also remained closed.

The party workers were seen pocketing at government offices in the capital city.

PCC president Prasad Harichandan the party is observing dawn-to-dusk shutdown across the state protesting against the unilateral construction of projects on Mahanadi river by Chhattisgarh government.

He also said Congress party is protesting against the nexus of Odisha government with industries for setting up the projects.

Meanwhile, Congress activists face off with police personnel at Master Canteen Square in Bhubaneswar. Protesting against the police excess, party members staged a dharna.
