Mahanadi Project Issue: Odisha Seeks Centre To Include Its Demands In Minutes

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday requested the Centre to incorporate the points raised by it in the minutes of meeting on Mahanadi project dispute.

The chief secretaries of Odisha and Chhattisgarh had attended a meeting chaired by Union Water Resources Ministry Special Secretary to discuss the Mahanadi water issue at New Delhi on July 29.

However, the Odisha government said that the minutes of the meeting did not figure the issues raised by it on the issue.

State Water Resources Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena has written a letter to the Centre requesting to issue revised minutes of July 29 Delhi meeting after incorporating Odisha’s demands.

In the letter, Jena said the views of Odisha government on Mahanadi had not been properly incorporated in the minutes.

He said information on four aspects is missing in the minutes.

Information on the master plan of Chhattisgarh govt on Mahanadi projects is missing in the minute book while there were no words on Kelo project.

The Odisha government had objected to Kelo dam project on Mahanadi river during the tripartite meeting in Delhi, said Jena.
