HC Rejects OPECA’s Petition On Seat Increase

Cuttack: The Orissa high court has rejected the petition of Odisha Private Engineering College Association (OPECA), which had challenged increase of seats in government-run colleges.

OPECA had moved the high court challenging increase in engineering seats in government-run colleges without approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Earlier, the court had asked the state government to file an affidavit in this connection.

The state government had increased B Tech intake by 1,214 seats in 2015-16 and by 336 in 2016-17 and M Tech seats by 779 in the two academic years.
