Bhubaneswar: Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday ordered a thorough probe into the Cuttack train accident, which claimed two lives and injured severals.

He said the railway ministry would provide ex gratia to the injured and dead persons.

Meanwhile, the Railway department has placed four staff under suspension over the incident.
The guard of the passenger train, driver, assistant driver, and loco-inspector have been placed under suspension, said a railway official.
According to an official of East Coast Railway (ECoR), Bhubaneswar-Bhadrak DMU train collided with a stationary freight train near Kathajodi station in Cuttack at around 6.30 pm.
78408 Bhubaneswar-Bhadark passenger train collided from rear with a goods train at around 6.30 pm, said the railway official.
