Rourkela: The Odisha vigilance has traced properties worth Rs 1 crore from a headmaster of a primary school in Sundargarh district.
The vigilance sleuths conducted a raid on the houses of Pramod Samal , the headmaster of a primary school at Koira block in Sundargarh district on Wednesday on the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets.
Sources said Pramod Samal works as headmaster in Kudamusa Primary school at Koira in Sundargarh district.
On the basis of a search warrant, the vigilance sleuths of Sundargarh, Rourkela, Jharsuguda and Keonjhar conducted a raid at four places simultaneously including his government quarter and a new double-storied building at Rourkela, ancestral home and father-in-law’s house at Bijharpur in Jajpur district.
During the search operation, the valuation of his Shaktinagar house at Rourkela has been estimated to be Rs.40 lacs, bank deposit Rs. 15 lacs, LIC policy of Rs. 11 lacs, household articles of Rs.3 lacs, a postal deposit of Rs. 4.50 lacs, NSC deposit of Rs. 1.10 lacs. He has also possessed two plots at Bhubaneswar of Rs. 3 lacs and a Scorpio vehicle and a Scotty.
“We are further investigating about his possession of disproportionate assets, ” said Harekrushna Majhi, Keonjhar DSP, Vigilance.
One Bank locker in Urban Cooperative Bank, Rourkela has been detected, which is yet to be opened. Afte the opening of the locker, there is every possibility that the value of assets may increase.
Pramod Kumar Samal was appointed as an assistant teacher in the year 1982 and was promoted to the rank of headmaster in the year 1998.
