Bhubaneswar: The authority of SUM hospital on Tuesday declared to provide Rs 5 lakh compensation to each deceased family.
Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University Vice-Chancellor Amit Banerjee declared Rs 5 lakh compensation.
He also said that four officials have been suspended following the fire mishap that killed 20 persons.
Three electricians and one fire safety person of SUM Hospital have been suspended for dereliction of duty.
He said steps are taken to provide free treatment to injured persons.
Health services have resumed at the hospital except in ICU, dialysis and emergency wards, which were sealed by the state government for investigation.
Meanwhile, Air India offered free assistance to bring injured Sum Hospital fire mishap victims and attendant to Delhi/Mumbai for further medical treatment.
Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) registered a suo motu case over the fire mishap and asked Health Secretary and DG (Fire Services) to submit a report within three weeks.
