SUM Hospital Fire Mishap: Four Staff Arrested

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Tuesday arrested four officials of Sum Hospital in connection with the fire tragedy that took 20 lives on Monday evening.

Acting on the FIR lodged by the fire service department, the police have arrested Pusparaj Samantasinghar (Medical superintendent), Amulya Kumar Sahu (ex-executive engineer, electrical maintenance), Santosh Das (fire safety officer) and Malay Kumar Sahu (retired junior engineer, electrical maintenance).

They have been arrested on the charges of IPC 304, 308, 285 and 34. They will be forwarded to court, said police.

Criminal negligence case registered against SUM Hospital authority. However, there is no mention of Manoj Naik in FIR who is absconding.

Earlier today, the fire services department had lodged a FIR with the Khandagiri police alleging negligence of hospital authority to adhere the fire safety norms.
