Bhubaneswar: DGP KB Singh on Thursday said the police have sufficient evidence against Mahimananda Mishra, managing director of Odisha Stevedores Limited (OSL), for his involvement in the murder of Mahendra Swain of the Seaways Shipping and Logistics Limited in Jagatisinghpur.
The police have verified license documents of aircraft and chopper owned by the OSL at the Bhubaneswar airport on Thursday. Earlier, the police had canceled the firearm license of Mahimananda Mishra and his son Charchit Mishra.
“We have sufficient evidence, and we are trying to find out how his plane and chopper were used and how it helped the criminals to bring from Jharkhand. We will soon seize their firearms,” said the DGP.
The police said investigation is under process and action would be taken once the investigation is over.
The police had issued lookout circulars against the OSL managing director and three of his employees Basant Kumar Bal, Subhash Acharya and Devi Tripathy.
So far, police have arrested six men including Congress leader Bapi Sarkhel for allegedly harboring and providing logistical support to the killers.
Meanwhile, Mahimananda Mishra, who is absconding, has filed an application seeking that the Odisha high court quashes the lookout circular issued against him.
