Puri: Woes of comedy king Papu Pom Pom, who recently landed in controversy for his remarks on Lord Jagannath, are yet over. Another complaint was lodged with Puri police on Saturday for hurting the sentiments of tribal communities.
Sishir Gamang, son of former Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang, lodged a complaint with the Puri police seeking action against the popular actor for his controversial comment on Lord Jagannath.
In his complaint, Gamang said that Lord Jagannath is the deity of tribals.
“The remark of Papu Pom Pom has hurt my religious sentiment and the Sabar community. Action should be taken against him as per the SC and ST Prevention of Atrocities Act,” said Sishir.
Notably, Sri Jagannath Sena and the Friends Foundation Trust had lodged FIR against the comedian at Puri Sea Beach police station.
Activists of Lulu Sena had thrown ink at Papu near Jharpada Flyover here when he was returning from shooting set in his car.
Papu Pom Pom has already tendered an apology for his remark.
While performing stand-up comedy on stage during the closing ceremony of Puri Beach Festival on November 28, Papu had said that basil (tulasi) leaves over which street dogs pee every day are used in the rituals of Lord Jagannath. He further went on to say that those who utter ‘Jay Jagannath’ are sinners (papi).
