Jagatsinghpur: A local court here has issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against absconding Mahimananda Mishra, the managing director of Orissa Stevedores Ltd (OSL), for his alleged involvement in a murder case.
Kujang JMFC court issued the NBW against Mishra in connection with the murder of Mahendra Swain, General Manager of Seaways Shipping and Logistics Private Limited (SSPL).
The court also issued NBW against Basant Bal, the executive director of OSL in the murder case.
Mishra is absconding after the murder of Swain. Earlier, police had issued a look out circular.
Earlier this month, the High Court had denied interim protection to Mishra.
Since the fugitive is still at large, a team of Paradip Police had raided the house of OSL managing director in Baramunda area in Bhubaneswar and interrogated his wife Mala Mishra.
Stevedoring rivalry at the Paradip port was the main reason behind the murder of Seaways Shipping and Logistic Ltd General Manager Mahendra Swain on October 26 here, said police.
On October 26, miscreants hurled crude hand bombs at the vehicle of Seaways General Manager Mahendra Swain near Ambedkar Bhawan at Madhuban Colony in Paradip while he was on his way to the office. While Swain attempted to escape, they opened two rounds of bullet killing him on the spot.
The miscreant who hurled bombs and shot at Mahendra Swain is identified as Riyasat Hussain aided by Mohammad Shamin.
Police have so far arrested five accused– Rakesh Chaubey and Riyasat Hussain of Jamshedpur, Muhammad Samin of Jharkhand, and Manoj Gochhayat and Shiva of Cuttack in the case.
