Rourkela: A team of CBI on Tuesday examined the bank account details and locker of arrested B.P.Verma, executive director (Works) of Rourkela Steel Plant, here.
Verma was arrested on Monday for allegedly accepting the bribe from a representative of Vesuvius India Ltd. Binay Kumar Singh, the representative, was also arrested from Bokaro.
During the raid of Verma’s house, CBI had recovered cash amount of Rs. 21 lakh, all new notes in Rs. 2000 denomination, which included Rs. 1 lakh paid by the company representative as the bribe.
Continuing the investigation, CBI examined the bank account and bank locker of B.P Verma at State Bank of India, steel township branch, here on Tuesday.
CBI sources said there has been a deposit of about Rs. 29.15 lakh. Besides, about 450 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs. 12 lakh and diamond ornaments worth Rs. 6.5 lakh were available in the locker.
