Students for cashless transactions in rural areas


Bhubaneswar: Students from the Indira Gandhi National Open University’s (Ignou) in Bhubaneswar have been trained to educate people about cashless transactions at several parts of Odisha.

They are educating people about the cashless transactions in rural areas.

The first batch of 100 students were trained about the cashless transactions. They are already working under the banner “e-Kranti volunteers” as part of the financial literacy mission launched by the ministry of human resource development (MHRD).

The Bhubaneswar region of Ignou covers 24 districts and the training began on November 30.

Ignou regional director Abhilash Nayak said the students have been carrying out campaigns in Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Jajpur and Nayagarh.

They have been asked to visit homes in villages and sensitize people about the modern ways of payments using debit cards and e-wallets, he added.

Besides, the students have been asked to collect feedbacks from people about the cashless transactions.
