BJD forms trade union for labour welfare


Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Friday formed its trade union wing – Biju Shramik Samukhya (BSS).

Rajendra Prasad Singh has been appointed President of the new unit.

Bhandaripokhari MLA Prafulla Samal has been appointed as the Working President of Biju Sharamik Samukhya, while firebrand leader Subhash Singh will be the General Secretary.

The new trade union unit will have 10 Vice Presidents, 21 Secretaries, 5 Advisors and 1 Treasurer. It will work towards labour welfare.

The 10 Vice Presidents include former MLA Anup Sai and Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena. 5 Advisors are Debasish Samantaray (Cuttack Barabati MLA), Susanta Behera (Chhendipada MLA), Braja Kishore Pradhan (Talcher MLA), Samir Dash (Nimapara MLA) and Sarada Nayak (Ex-MLA of Rourkela).
