Bargarh: Counting for Odisha’s Bijepur Assembly seat has started on Wednesday. BJD candidate Rita Sahu has surged ahead in the 20th round of counting. She is leading towards a massive victory in the Bijepur by-poll.
BJP candidate Ashok Panigrahi is trailing behind BJD.
Nearly 21 rounds of counting are likely to be conducted.
The constituency is witnessing a triangular contest between ruling BJD, BJP and Congress. A total of 13 candidates are in the fray.
BJD president and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik thanked Bijepur voters for the massive victory.
He said a victory by more than 40000 votes will have an impact on future elections.
