Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday appointed former Mumbai police commissioner Arup Patnaik as executive chairman of the state youth welfare board.
Patnaik, who recently joined the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), will look after Biju Yuva Vahini programme.
He has been given the rank of minister of state in the Odisha government, said an official.
Notably, the Cabinet in March this year approved Biju Yuva Vahini under Biju Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana to reach out to youths at the grass-roots level.
The programme would attempt to inculcate traits of good citizenship, develop leadership qualities, national character, comradeship and personality development among the youth.
