Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday distributed appointment orders to 240 newly recruited veterinary doctors selected through Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC).
The state government had created 376 new veterinary officer posts last year.
The Chief Minister distributed the orders at a state level workshop –Enhancing Farmers Income Through Upgrading Animal Resources – Role of Veterinary Officers — at Rabindra Mandap here.
He said that about 90 per cent of farmers of the state belong to the small and marginal category where the livestock sector provides a great support for their sustainable livelihood.
Now, the government has given due importance for implementing various new schemes under ARD Sector, he added.
