MONNA holds protest against liquor sale


Bhubaneswar: Milita Odisha Nisha Nibarana Abhijana (MONNA) held a protest against the state government’s order to start offline and online liquor sale in the state.

Terming this move as anti-people, MONNA said this will further escalate the Covid19 situation in the state.

It appealed the state government to ban liquor in public interest immediately.

Padma Charan Nayak, MONNA president said, “About one and half months of lockdown due to covid-19 pandemic has brought peace in villages across the state. Now, the decision of the government to facilitate offline and online liquor sale will further escalate the coronavirus situaion in the state.”

He further said, “Covid-19 pandemic was an opportunity for both centre and state governments to ban liquor completely, but both have failed.”

Among others present on the occasion are Malay Tripathy, Ramakant Mandal, Khageswar Bal, Kanhu Charan Behura, Indumati Sahu, Laxmikant Acharya, Saumya Ranjan Mohanty, Prabhat Routray and Arun Routray.
