New Delhi: Reliance Jio has once again topped the 4G download speed chart with average download speed of 20.2 megabit per second (Mbps) in December 2020, as per the latest 4G download speed chart published by TRAI.
The average 4G download speed achieved by Jio in the month of December is more than double the speed of its rivals. As per the data published by TRAI, Reliance Jio recorded more than double the average 4G download speed of its closest competitor Vodafone.
Though, Vodafone and Idea have merged their mobile business as Vodafone Idea Limited, TRAI is still releasing separate network speed data of both the entities. Vodafone recorded average download speed of 9.8 Mbps in December, followed by Idea and Bharti Airtel with average 4G download speed of 8.9 Mbps and 7.8 Mbps, respectively.
In terms of average 4G upload speed Vodafone was ahead of others with 6.5 Mbps speed in December, followed by Idea with upload speed of 6.0 Mbps, Airtel 4.1 Mbps and Jio 3.8 Mbps.
The download speed helps consumers in accessing content from the internet while upload speed helps them in sending or sharing pictures, video etc. The average speed is computed by Trai based on the data it collects across India with the help of its MySpeed application on a real-time basis.
As per the data published by TRAI on its MySpeed portal, Jio also topped in average 4G download speed in Odisha with 37.4 Mbps speed followed by Bharti Airtel with 5.6 Mbps and Vodafone at 5.4 Mbps average 4G download speed.
In terms of average 4G upload speed in Odisha, Vodafone topped with 6.7 Mbps followed by Reliance Jio with 5.2 Mbps and Airtel with 2.8 Mbps average 4G upload speed, according to data published by TRAI.
