Bhubaneswar: A cycle rally and cleanliness drive was organised at the Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA), a Deemed to be University here recently as part of the observance of ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ to engage the public in cleanliness related activities highlighting it as a national priority.
The event was organised in the campus of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS), SOA’s faculty of agriculture, in which volunteers of the NSS took part.
The programme was attended by Dr. Bijay Kumar Sahoo, Dean, IAS, Dr. Premananda Mohapatra, Dean (PG Studies) and Dr. Nachieketa K. Sharma, Program Coordinator, NSS Bureau and Director, University Outreach Program.
Dr. Sharma highlighted the importance of ‘swachhata’ in the present context and stressed on proper sanitation and raising of the public consciousness about cleanliness and proper disposal of solid and liquid waste.
The students visited the nearby villages to spread the message of ‘swachhata’ among the local people.
Among others, Prof. Saroj Kumar Mohanty, NSS Program Officer at IAS, Dr. Chakradhar Patra, Mr. Dibya Ranjan Satpathy and Mr. Subham Acharya were present.
