MCL CMD visits Talcher mines, boosts morale of coal miners


Sambalpur: PK Sinha, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) on Tuesday inspected mega-potential Ananta (13 MTPY) and Balram (6 MTPY) opencast projects of company in Talcher coalfields of Odisha.

Accompanied by OP Singh, Director (Technical/Operations), the CMD visited Jagannath Area and Hingula Area to inspect the mega-potential coal mines and the Railway Siding No. 5 & No. 6.

The Ananta OCP has potential to increase capacity to 20 MTPY, capacity of Balram OCP can be enhanced to 15 MTPY.

Similarly, enhancing the potential of Ananta Railway sidings No. 5 & No. 6 from 10 rakes a day to 15 rakes is also under consideration in view of increased demand of coal.

The CMD also interacted with the field managers and their teams.

“We have to ensure that no power plant faces fuel crunch,” Sinha said, motivating the technical and support teams in the projects to optimise production and despatch from the mines.

MCL’s Directors have been visiting various operational areas and projects to ensure quick decision-making and on-the-spot support to field teams to maximise coal despatch.
